Carnival is the most important
and awaited popular feast in Brazil. Different style celebrations take
place all over the country:
- In Rio city, Samba Schools put on spectacular Carnival Parades at the
local Sambodrome, each one bringing thousands of members dressed in
special costumes singing and dancing a rehearsed Samba routine;
- In Salvador city, “Trios Eletricos” that are huge moving
stages with massive sound systems and performing singers, lead the
crowds packed all around them over the streets of the city. Such groups
will perform for up to eight consecutive hours moving over a circuit of
more than 10km in one day;
- Other large and nice Samba School parades also happen in other cities
with the one in São Paulo city as the best option to
Rio’s. The same happens with other street Carnival parties, with
the ones in Recife and Olinda being the most famous after Salvador. |
